1 min read

Constructed in 1822, the almshouse received a donation of £2,000 in 1824 from Thomas Bailey, a resident of Brixton. Bailey, who originally hailed from Staffordshire, amassed his wealth as a partner at Neale & Bailey, a prosperous retailer of china and cut glass during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
